Our History

Then until now

The vision was granted to the Baptist Union of Scotland to plant a church in the town of Alness at a time when Alness was growing due to a large influx of people during the building of the aluminium smelter at Invergordon and the oil fabrication yard at Nigg. In 1975 Rev Bill Clark came to plant that church and he gathered with around ten others to form a housegroup. With growth the group moved to the old town hall now known as The Place before moving to the West End Community Centre in the Firhill area of the town. In 1979 the church was formally constituted with around 30 members.
Over the years we have seen our numbers fluctuate greatly as the work in the area has increased and dried up. In 1988 after a two year vacancy the Rev Bill Murdoch was inducted into the charge, where he faithfully served the Lord for twelve years. After another two year vacancy the Rev Ian Macinnes was inducted into the charge in March 2002. After 13 years of faithful service Ian has answered the Lord's call to service in Fort William. In October the fellowship extend a call to the Rev Robert Adair who was ordained and inducted as our Pastor on the 12th of November 2016.
